No Bakes With A Twist

Everyone has made or eaten the classic “no bake” chocolate cookies.  But I changed up a couple things on the classic recipe and it made them even better!  Used brown sugar instead of white and used maple flavoring instead of vanilla.  It’s the little things in  life that make the difference :-)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 tsp. maple extract
  • 3 cups oatmeal (old fashioned rolled oats, not instant)

Bring the first four ingredients to a boil and boil for one minute.  Stir in peanut butter, maple extract and oatmeal.  Drop by tablespoons on wax paper to cool. Seriously, these are the best no bakes I’ve ever had – best taste, best texture, best density.  I could have eaten the whole thing in one sitting… Good thing I had to take them to the church staff meeting.
