Newborn Day

The sun peaks through wispy white curtains, a bit of mystery behind its invitation.

Both its brilliant yellow hue and its welcoming warmth display the smile playing on its face, eager to rise and shine and usher in the birth of a brand new day.

Beneath the covers I feel it beckoning, calling me to join in the celebration.  To breathe in the air of a newborn morning, fresh with possibility, ripe with potential.

It has asked each bird to join in its song of promise.  Willingly, they sing, chests toward the sky, as if using their voices for the first time.  Thankful to be a part of the orchestra of a new day.

Flowers begin to wake and turn sleepy petals toward the sun’s embracing warmth.

The deep green carpet of grass drinks in the morning nourishment of fresh dew.

Delicate leaves in the towering trees begin to rustle to life with the sweet breath of a gentle breeze, a peaceful background percussion of sorts.

How can I not dance?

How can I not sing?

How can I not marvel at the privilege of waking to a brand new day?

Chosen for this day, this day chosen for me.

A beautifully wrapped gift, with something pristine, undiscovered, unexpected, unopened inside.

A newborn day to be handled with care.

A treasure not to be taken for granted.

Bright with color, alive with sound.  An intoxicating fragrance of hope in its air.

It is yours and mine to savor until it is laid to rest in preparation for the next sunrise.

Today.

May the love that created every beam of fresh light, every songbird and its new tune, every drop of refreshing dew be the love that flows through me to greet every new possibility, person and promise that this day brings.

Good Morning, world 🙂

Psalm 118:24 – This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 139:16 – …all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Psalm 144:4 – Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

Lamentations 3:22-23 – The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
