20 + 30 = 50

20 plus 30 = 50.

That’s the only way that I can make sense of the quick and easy bond that is forming between two 50 plus-year-olds and the group of nearly thirty 20’s and 30’s that take over our house and yard every Tuesday night.

And Mark and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the takeover…

Never in my life have I seen such a vital and thriving singles group, so committed to community and helping each other grow in their faith.  They are asking questions, sharing personal insights into Scripture and encouraging each other not just on Tuesday nights but throughout the week.  They are stepping up to leadership roles and excelling humbly.  Reaching out to new people and engaging in meaningful and deep conversations.

I am inspired by their commitment, challenged by their dialogue and overwhelmed by their love.

At only our second week with them, I feel the beginnings of something so big, so good, so beneficial to others and glorifying to God that I get goosebumps.  There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that these young people will serve as an incredible example to the entire community that is Blue Oaks Church.  They understand the message of the gospel, the call of Jesus to serve others, and the crazy love of their Heavenly Father and are impassioned to do more than just soak it all in.  This is a group that wants to bleed out in love, acceptance and service.  God and others focused.

And one again I am humbled that I get to watch the miracles of this group happening right before my eyes.

So thank you, all of you, for filling my house with the glorious fragrance of youth, passion and vision.  I cannot wait to see what God has for each of you, for all of you, in the days, weeks, months and years ahead.

Love,

Your 50-year-old groupie and den mom – Jana

Matthew 18:20 – “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”
